Matchday 3 17/01/10 @ Jurong West Seconday : 7-2(4-0)

The waiting game against Simon ended when i finally gave in to blog this post. He's more patient in waiting for me to write in while i was just thinking i would have something to read late in this night when i usually can't sleep much before match days. So here i am reporting to you on the match and latest updates in the team.

Missing quite a few regulars in some kind of African nations cup duty and some injuries so we had a squad which was slightly on the thin side. Started with Saran in goal, Simon, Jin, ZhenQuan and Chai across the back. Seng and Taran in front of the full backs while Kejang and Lewis providing the ammo in the centre of the park. Up front the strong presence of Zonghui and Willip. Game started off well and the Whiners are not in a pleasing mood as Willip slid a ball through to Zonghui who continued his rich vein of form by netting in the first. The second soon came as Willip laid the ball back to Kejang who strikes the ball beautiful with power, swerve and unerring accuracy to put us 2 up. LimBei came in for Seng and soon got a penalty which gave Willip his chance to get his first goal from the team. It will be a confidence booster for the new dad. LimBei got the ball from the left again and brought the ball towards opposition while just laying the ball into the onrushing Kejang who turned and skipped passed 2 defenders before slotting the ball home from an almost identical position from his first. 4-0 at half time and plenty of promises fulfiled as the team were banging in the goals. Lewis was hardworking over the park and the defence was really playing well and snuffing out threats. The only down side was that we lost Taran to injury and it seemed real bad but we definitely would wish for his recovery and him to get back to the team soon.

Second half started at a slower pace and the team obviously slacked off. Asen pulled off a wonderful save despite seeing the shot late to push it out for a corner. We would want to see more of that from him don't we? Lewis extended our lead as he spotted the keeper off his line to lob it over the keeper despite keeper getting a late touch. Seng was wreaking havoc on the left wing with his runs and dribbles while plenty of good movement up front from the strikers too. One such combination saw Zonghui getting the ball down the right byline and laying the ball across goal for Xianxi for a simple tap in. Jin then decided to be generous and give a penalty away with a rash challenge but i believe it's for the score to rake up to what he wanted i guess(half time at 4-0 the discussion was that will we be like Chelsea to finish 7-2 after leading by the same score at half time). The goals came at the right times too as the penalty was converted and it was 6-1. Chai made it 7-1 after a loose ball rebounded and LimBei heading the ball to him as he skipped past 3 defenders cutting in from the left a la Messi to finish the ball into the bottom corner. Another lapse in concentration provided another consolation for the malay kids, despite Nigel's best efforts after covering much ground. We still appreciate that strong defensive effort. So 7-2 it ended as Chelsea did.

We got bad news as we lost another player through injury after the game as ZhenQuan injured himself and had to take injection for his back.

P.S. Taran and ZhenQuan please recover and get well soon! Eat and rest well. While the rest of the team please watch yourselves well too. We are not professionals...yet(maybe) so we would only get into trouble on our own if we get a serious injury. Play hard, but play smart and sensible too. We don't shrink away from challenges but we must avoid if we know our bodies are at risk. Not worth it at this point, take care boys!
