Friendly Double Header 19/09/10

This day WE Fight Club negotiated 2 games at Marsiling Secondary, as a testament to character, fitness and ability to adapt to last minute encounters and surprises. And this conversation proved to be senseless at the end of the day.

Rixian : Which referee organised today's game?
Simon : D2d. The organiser told me our opponents are of Morning Glory's standard.
Rixian : You should have organised a easier game mah! Photo taking leh today!
Simon : Ohhhhhhhhh...

We had good attendance this day, most probably due to the fact everyone wants to get their pictures on the team photo. But we were missing Adrian, Chua, Fat, Zhenquan and Weixiong. Squad did their warm up and usual laughs while the usual shitters like Berbajang, Nigel, Seng and Rixian did their businesses. And just before the game we had our photo taking session and armband presentation, and also first XI photo, with Tianjun being captain for the day. Line up started with Asen in goal, with a backline of Tianjun, Simon, Jin and Daniel from right to left. Midfielders Jumain and Rixian with new nicknamed player Berbajang the Whiner's own ballerina on the left and Seng on the right. Up front was Xianxi and Zonghui. A strong bench on the sidelines consisting of Zhenqing, Nigel, Lewis, Saran and Taran twin towers and whitey new boots donner Chai. We begin the game well and aiming to keep possession and get our touches and passes around. First chance was created as Xianxi latched on a pass and lay the ball through for Zonghui for the 1 on 1 but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Opponents tried to threaten with some hard runs against our defence which came to nothing as the defence stood firm. Berbajang was in the mood for a show as he took the ball before the half way line on the left, cut into the centre and faked the entire defence to dribble past the naive highline for the 1 on 1 before dribble the ball past the keeper to put us at 1-0. A flurry of substitutions followed and 2 in particular combined when Chai sprung the offside trap to latch on a through ball from Rixian and kept his footing to draw the keeper out before laying the ball towards Lewis who slid the ball in to put us 2 up. Jumain was playing his passes well from deep and keeping the players in the game while Seng also had several attempts to run at the defence, drawing fouls in danger areas. Defence backline was peerless as Tianjun and Simon keep winning headers and challenges and Zhenqing kept that up when he came on. Jin was also covering well and clearing the lines well and Daniel as usual made easy work of playing the ball out of defence all the time. We went in 2-0 up at half time.

A flurry of substitutions in the 2nd half for the Whiners, including intimidating goalkeeper Saran and brother Taran who was welcomed back from injury to get his minutes since the start of the year. Nigel also went into the right flank in place of Seng while Utility man Zhenqing remain with the rest of the backline. While Xianxi went in with Chai upfront. 2nd half started with ball keeping and neat touches from the team and about 10 mins into the 2nd half we were leading 3-0. Quick free kick and quick thinking from Taran sent Chai through against a sleeping defence as he cuts inside from the right to bring the ball past the keeper for the 3rd goal. An ideal set piece by Berbajang gave Zonghui the 4th as he beat the offside trap and brought the ball down well and slot into the net and Zonghui returned the favour soon after with a early low cross as he spotted Berbajang running in from the left and he duly finished. The game ended 5-0 to the Fight Club.

We were then approached by 11am game opponents who looked a fanciful and fast young malay team for a match as their opponents didn't turn up, resulting a walkover but they still wanted to play so we all agreed and had our 2nd game. New team line up as a few players played out of position, like Chai and Rixian at left back and centre back. Zonghui took up the left midfield berth while Berbajang took up his favourite role up front with Zhenqing. Jin played as defensive midfield with Jumain while Simon, Tianjun and Seng remained in their positions with Asen. Berbajang continued where he left off as the former Gombak youngster showed his love and familiarity towards the Mikasa ball as he was sent through and slot perfectly for his day's combined hat trick. Malay youngsters tried to play their way into the game but was lacking of a final ball. But their persistence paid off as a cross from the right found a knee of a striker who despite pressure from Tianjun minus to connect with the ball awkwardly as it lofted pass Asen to put them at 1-1. Soon the Whiners took back the lead as Chai launched a cross into the area which made things difficult for the small goalkeeper and under pressure he dropped the ball for Nigel who rammed in from just in front of goal. Lewis and Jumain played ball keeping patiently and it was enjoyable to see that we are not rushing things, picking the right timing. The half ended 2-1. Start of 2nd half and fatigue sunk in as some players had to leave while others are injured or already too tired tired to carry on. But credit to Zonghui and Jin who changed in and out of their gear a staggering 3 times! This showcase 2 players whose heart wants to play but body doesn't. But they still did came in and put on a professional performance for the team. Berbajang's blighted his copybook as he committed a mistake by passing back to Asen and cost the Whiners a goal. 2-2 it stayed while opponents missed several chances to win the game due to poor finishing as the Whiners returned home tired after a double header.

Special thanks to Simon's brother Samuel who came and take photos for us! And also Nigel to get well soon!

Season Review for 2010

Our Season has come to a Closure and although we have clinched the title...

There is still 1 title to be won.....

The Golden Boot Award.... A tough Battle between Chai, Ke Jang and Zong Hui.....

Season Update

Following RX's Wonderful post on the Championship scenario, everyone was hyped up and eager to go out and smash some morning glories however it didn't happened as 25 July Marked Chloe's Entry into the World and Also the Whiner's First Defeat in the League.

A solitary Goal By Andrew was not enough to give the Whiners the titles when MG took the liberty to put 3 into our net.

But everything was history as we quickly move in to arrange a friendly at Dempsey road with guest Appearance from explosive Centre Back Jinquan. Guarding Asen at the post was with him was Zhen quan and a typical backline of Myself and Daniel Marshalled by a centre midfield pairing of Jumain and Chai. Left was played By rixian and right anchored by Seng. Ke Jang paired up with Xian Xi upfront.

Jinquan took the honours of getting his name on the scoresheet via a beautifully taken corner by rixian and he got his second goal as well through an elegantly set up corner by rixian. Xianxi bagged a brace as well showing his predatory instincts in the box. Fat and Zhen Qing then came on and shared the burden of the team in the huge pitch...

Following a Morale Booster win over a semmingly strong team, we went into the all important title winning match against Galactico Empire. And we were doubly glad that their Centre back turned up who himself is a Joke at our previous encounter. Nonetheless there were no room for complacency as Jin Put his name into the scoresheet 36 minutes into the match when he planted his header into the net to put us 1-0 up.

Ke Jang took the honours for a Goal of the Season Contender when he scooped the Ball up Bicycle Kick Style and with a bit of theatrics from opposition allowed the ball to go in and Chai Finished When his Left Leg Shot took a Deadly Dip. 3-0 was all we need to seal the title with no additional help from the other matches as Morning Glory Strolled past Inter.

We are technically the champions as we have 1 more game against Team Spirit and 1 final Encounter with Inter before we are officially crowned Champions but Team Spirit is As its name states... Spiritually present only... Unless during this period of the year it suddenly comes alive. We are numerically the champions. Another possible scenario of us not winning the title will be an 11 match brawl with our final opponent, Inter resulting in 11 Yellow cards or 5 Yellow cards.

The scenario was seemingly impossible but seeing some high profile players in the team with the Regular Card Collectors like Your Truly (Which Hasn't collected Any this Season. =)...) , Tough Tackler Nigel Who is insane at his tackles, Bison Chai who taunts, Tough Tackles, Argue with Referee etc etc...... And the latest addition to the Brawlers... Ke Jang who had some final Arguments in the last match... Too bad Taran was out for the season.... he would be another King Of fighters.....

Our latest Encounter with Kenneth's Team was a true Testament to the establishment of Whining 11 Fight Club.... Zong Ba with Xian xi spearheaded the Attack supported by Adrian and Rixian in the centre of the park. Right was lead by Chua and left Zhen Qing. Fat and i paired up in centre with TianJun on the right and daniel on the left.... Asen between the posts.

It only took awhile when our Penalty Kick training came into handy as Zongba scored the 1st goal of the game via a Penalty. A flurry of goals soon came pouring down as the Whiners showed no mercy to a messy team as they played the best football in recent years Barcelona Style...

In No Particular Order.... Rixian Bagged his Hat trick and Man Of the Match Award with 2 Smashing Shots and a Header and Turned Provider for Xianxi with Zongba taking the Honour of scoring the other goal which gave us 6 goals lead.

The match then went into an interesting twist shortly into second half when a simple ball out played by me was met by an unwanted challenge on Kenneth by chai and Kenneth went berserk dashing up to confront Chai which threw the game into an 11-man Brawl. The two captains + kenneth was taken off the pitch as the Whiners resume their game and 3 minutes into restarting the match.... Round 2 started outside and the match was called off....

What an end to the season and what a memorable day as Whining 11 Fight Club was officially established.....

Championship Scenario

The best thing that happened to me during work on monday was a sms from Lewis stating that Morning Glory were beaten 3-2 by Inter. But i wasn't over excited and keep went to double check everything myself, including the weekly review on the website, the table and result. Anyway the weekly review on the website is rubbish as it states it was Morning Glory's first loss and also they are still top on superior goal difference. But no they are not. So let me explain the whole championship scenario that i discussed with Lewis.
win draw lose scored conceded goal difference points
1 Whinning 11 1082033132026
2 Morning Glory Football Club 1172237152223

Currently we have 4 games left, 2 that we have a very high chance of winning which is against Galatico Empire and Team Spirit. The latter will most probably result in a walkover like previously while Galatico Empire is a team who will definitely beat. This leaves us with 2 tough games against Inter and Morning Glory. Our goal difference is catching up but maybe it won't come into play anymore. Morning Glory had gotten a red card against Inter and it was their 3rd so they will have one point deducted, which is not updated. But let's just see to what was given on the website till it is updated. Their current points tally will give them a maximum of 32 points(with 1 point not yet deducted) while we still got 4 games and 2 of it that we should win as i stated above which will give us the 32 points we need to seal the title. But of course let's not aim for that. We must aim to finish the season strongly and also use it as a chance to further improve our play and increase our fitness. Let's finish the season on a high. If there is no change in this weekend's fixture we can face it straight up, it's against Morning Glory and if we win we seal the title. So everyone please rest well and keep yourself in shape. Psychologically i think you guys should be motivated enough by looking at this scenario. We win we will go up to 29 points while Morning Glory remain at 23 points with a point to be deducted so let's not tempt fate and make it difficult for ourselves, let's just beat them. Are you up for it?

P.S. You can shout to yourself the answer to the last question, i might be able to hear it, through my heart and spirit.

Game 10 Match Report 18/07/10

Match 10 at Anderson Secondary against Galatico Empire proved to be a good run out as we emerged 5-0 victors. First game against them was postponed while we were leading 1-0 and while the conditions proved to be slightly wet and drizzling there was no chance of that happening again this time.

The team welcomed Saran back from his lay-off and it proved to be a crucial presence as Asen was unavailable for the game. He started in goal with Simon, Jin, Daniel, Yeechun forming up the backline. A new formation introduced by Chai worked like a treat for this game with two defensive midfielders in the form of Zhenquan and Adrian while the team was flanked by Kejang on the left and XiangSheng on the right. Chai was doubling his role as a support striker to Zonghui and also as an extra man back into centre mid. Sadly left on the bench was Zhenqing, Xianxi, Jumain, Nigel, ShiangJing and Rixian.

The team took time to adjust to the new formation but were soon on their way as Kejang got the ball as he drifted into the centre and flick the ball over the defence and loft it pass the onrushing goalkeeper for the opening goal, but not before taking a boot on the way. Opponents tried in vain to get back into the game but were often met with the defensive wall of the back 4 and also the commited midfielders who dropped back. Even when they managed to get past and put a shot in, it will seem soft enough for big bad Saran to pick it up and return it back deep into their half with those monsterous drop kicks. And on one occasion it provided an assist for Sheng as it was allowed to bounce and he nipped in front of the keeper to head home for the 2-0. Persistent play from the right by his substitute Zhenqing saw the ball delivered into the area as the defender handled the cross under pressure from Chai but play goes on as the loose ball breaks to Zonghui who tap it into the bottom corner. Xianxi was finding a new lease of life back in the forward line as he was hardworking and determined to make his mark in the game. He chased down Mr Loser Last Man and forced an own goal out of him to put us 4 up. Soon it was half time.

2nd half started with a slower pace and as the team tries to put some passing together with Jumain controlling proceedings. Opponents tried to attack more but still were always coming off worse each time and when they seem to finally put in a shot that seem destined for goal among the sea of players, Saran's strong hand caught the shot and did not even palm it over for a corner, such was the confidence of the keeper and also implanted into the backline. Kejang sadly went off injured with a sprain early on. Our counter attacks are proving to be threatening and one such occasion Chai latched on to a flick on from Xianxi and lob over the keeper into the far post for 5. More chances were wasted, notably from Rixian who did a Pedro and failed to spot his team mates and screwed up the shot. Nigel was proving lively on the right and also in his challenges as he almost did a Nigel de Jong. ShiangJing too proved to be solid in his defence with some sort of Nikola Zigic vs Philippe Lahm type of marking. The rest of the team did well too and seem commited for the cause though there is no doubt we can still be so much better. Go Whiners! Get the Div 2 title!

Ater a long While...

After like 4 Matches.... Finally i find some time in managing the blog amidst the busy work and footballing matches in between.... 8 Games into our Virgin entry into League Tournaments... We found ourselves at the top of the table with another 6 more games to go and the players are starting to be bog down by injuries and fatigue.... However, with our new player who we tag him as our Young Ace Wei Xiong, he has done fabulous in our bid to maintain our position at the top. Also notably as our performance slips down occasionally, captain Andrew's lashing out at the performance with the intention to improve things. Rixian...Motivating the players on and off the pitch and of course...credit to all the players.... While regular goal getters Javis and Ke Jang continue their job on the pitch...by scoring....

4 games has passed since i last updated the blog and looking back.....

This was the first game that Wei Xiong has Joined us and although this game is just a friendly...His two goals for the team in critical situations showed what a lethal player he is....

Subsequently followed by a match at Bishan Park Secondary against Galatico was called off due to the wet weather was a disappointment as the players toiled down to the pitch and battled for a solitary wei xiong goal only to be dis considered as the match was cancelled.

However, the heartbreak of the season was the cup game against league adversary OMU 1980. The game started with a makeshift defence line of Myself, Daniel, Andrew and Zhen Quan while the midfield is anchored by Rixian, Jumain whoo played his first competitive game and Ke Jang with Nigel on the flanks. Attack led by Wei Xiong and Xianxi. It took a stale 1 minute before the opponent took the lead as we were all still stunned by what happened. But Wei Xiong Forced a goal on the other end shortly before Xianxi took us 2-1 up. And before halftime.... Wei xiong capped his 5 goal for the club in fashion.

However, it was a defensive lapse as the OMUs took a second half turn around by stampeding on us... Whatever happened was a disaster and the game ended off 5-3 and we are outta the cup.

Having said that, it was considerably negligible as we convince ourselves that it is just a league cup and we should not be bothered by how the results ended.

But as fate hasit all arranged, we are scheduled to fight the OMUs again the following weekend and it was revenge time. The players were all hyped up and we have battle spirits in our heart. But that was not sufficient as we need to really mash them up to seek back the spirits that we lost last week.

Starting the game for Sunday Backlash in goalie is replacement keeper for Asen who couldnt make it for the game is Pok and in defence Jin Zhen Quan Daniel and myself. While in midfield it is Andrew and Adrian flanked by Seng and Ke jang on the left. Strike led by Zong Hui and Wei Xiong.

And it was early into the game When Zonghui put us up 1-0 to ledge onto a weixiong Ball. But a defensive Howler with the keeper allowed the opponents to score back. And we went into half time 1-1.

It wasn't long when Zonghui took the ball and Smash it home from outside penalty box and it also took a quick respond from the opponents to score from the freekick.

The defence are in shock while the attack continues to pile their pressure ahead and a freekick converted from ke Jang send us 3-2 and a nice finish from Rixian into the bottom pocket of the post put us 4-2. However, the ssaddening thing is the opponents also took 2 pot shots at us and equalised..... In our hearts this draw is as much as a defeat as we werent able to fight back for the distressing defeat last week.

However, we need to move on.... We are not bogged down by 1 or 2 matches... we look at things in a bigger picture with the top of the table clash tomorrow... we cannot afford any lapse anymore and we will need to perform well for the remaining of the season... the title is for us to lose..... If we can focus and concentrate.... we will nail it.... Alll the best lads....rest well see you guys tomorrow~

Current Top Goal Scorers

16 May 10 Whining 11 Vs Hougang North

The phenomenal win over league leaders Morning Glory set us top of the table with games in hands and points in our advantage. Facing Hougang North sounded like a cruise but we are not gunning on any chances as we field a neat squad with Asen in the posts. Rearguard secured by myself, Daniel, Fat and Chai as a surprise left back. RX and Adrian Pack the centre with Seng and Ke Jang on the flanks. Zhen Qing and Zong Hui led the front in attack.

The match started and Hougang North looked nothing like what their performance in the chart showed as they exhibit good movement on the ball while some of their nifty footwork proved threatening. Some good movement on the ball saw a few moment of opportunity for them.

However the whiners drew first blood when a cross send in was taken down by zhen Qing and laid onto Zong Hui who finished it with composure.

The second goal came via a deflected shot by Rixian which lofted into the net which Rixian cooly refuse to celebrate lol....

2nd Hallf saw some additional changes by our tenacious tough tackling Nigel. Tian Jun took up the left back slot and Chai's fren was deployed on Right Flank.

Opponents try to break our game by going into tough tackling mode while the Whiners remain their composure but was left exposed when Hougang manage to barge through the defence to cut the deficit to 1.

We were not taken aback as our Form Striker Ke Jang took the golden opportunity to Whack the ball into the net when the keeper was out of position.

And Chai finished the rout with a Break through to Put the game entirely beyond the opponents and did his special by taunting the opponent... that was El Clasico......

Nice game.... Though we are not the most beautiful team in the world.. We have been doing good with whatever opportunities we have.. keep the good work coming along... Lets hope for a better game tomorrow lads... In the mean time enjoy the highlights....

Current Table Standings

Whining 11 Goes top of the table

After the lacklustre performance against Team Poom last week, everyone is fired up for a Galactic clash with Top of the table team Morning Glory. A Top of the Table Clash indeed...

The match started with in-form Asen in between the posts. Defence was marshalled by Myself, Daniel, Zhen quan and Jin.

Left flank was plyed by ke jang and Right by Seng while centre was governed by Adrian and Rixian while Chai and Zong Hui lead the attack.

The match started in the bumpy and small pitch with opponent's agile centre mid playing most of the ball to their domineering Striker standing at 1.95m tall. However, No matter how tall he is.... His balls were taken away by the outstanding backline marshalled by Vice Captain Daniel who kept the defence line calm and composed.

Midfield Dynamo Adrian was making his presence felt with his no nonsense play and dominated the central park supported by the Creative Trio of Rixian, Ke jang and Seng. On One occasion saw Zonghui through only to see his shot flew wayward from the goal.

Halftime saw some changes to the attack and Chai was replaced by Xianxi while zhenqing took up the central midfielder role. 15 minutes pass by and chai took his positon back on the pitch and it took only 5 minutes into his return before he latched onto a throw in and brought the team into the lead by slamming the ball into the net via his outside foot.

Opponent took on an intensified offensive approach and it paid off when a corner was met by their on rushing player who connected with the ball and send it pass asen.

But the whiners refuse to take it lying and went into a carefl approach to pinch a victory by sending zhen qing into full bull dozer mode and he return the favour by doing his trademark bash to win the ball and created for Zong hui who needs no invitation to put the ball beyond the keeper's reach through a nice turn and shoot....

The final whistle proved to be music to the ears as the players heaved a sigh of relief and went home victorious...

Credit goes to all the players especially Tian jun and Ah fat who understands the importance of team effort as they took the maximum effort to come all the way to the east and sacrifice precious playing time.......

That is what i will call dedication to its commitment. I give you guys the entire team my greatest respect....

Tke care folks... Rest well.. This week we will be coming against Hougang North..... Pasir ris Cres...

Please do rest well tak care and see u on sunda...

Whining 11 vs Team Poom : 2-1

Dull game devoid of ideas along the north east end of singapore was what happened on last sunday April 25th. As the whiners struggled to unlock a team at the bottom end of the table who also started with a 2 man disadvantage but a win is a win and we will still take it. Kejang stepped up to the plate and notched a brace before leaving the field out of breath on both occasions but it was 2 good goals with runs from deep and beating a few defenders on the way before finishing with 2 well placed shots. All eyes will be on him for the next game with table toppers Morning Glory as he's the new star man on form.

Makeshift keeper Mr Leck did well and was seldom tested. Defence held firm with Daniel the most solid as usual while consistent displays from fellow top choice back line Simon, Zhenquan and Jin also did well. Adrian was at the heart of breaking up play and making lots of challenges. Besides Kejang i guess we have to admit the rest of us were pretty average or less than that and did not play true to our abilities so we have to step up a gear for the next match.

110410 Ahad Ibrahim Vs OMU

After a good 2-3 weeks of matches being cancelled due to hazardous weather, the lads gathered again at Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary.... 13 lads turned up for a crucial match against considerably strong opponents OMU....

The game started with Daniel, Myself, Zhenquan and jin in the heart of the defence. Midfield was anchored by the hardworking Adrian paired with Lewis ad they are flanked by Seng on the left and Nigel on the right... Chai and Xianxi fronted our attack..

It was a good ten minutes of action before Xianxi broke Seng into the penalty box with the keeper to beat only... He did a spectacular right foot placing to plant the ball into the net bringing us 1-0 up... But our lead lasted barely 10 minutes when opponent equalize via a neatly taken shot outside penalty box which went in nicely... But a Opportunity that Xianxi earned with a spot kick outside the penalty box between the Midfield gave rixian the big chance to turn it in a goal... and without any invites he curled the ball sweetly into the post and the keeper can barely nip it... opponents flew into a rage over the decision for freekick and threatened to call off the game....

No it didnt happen and we went into half time leading....

2nd half was a pressured half when opponents rained their attacks on us notably the corner which we struggled to clear for a while that gave us a fright...

But a turn of luck came when we fronted a counter attack which xian xi lob to Chai who flick it onto an onrushing Nomis who similarly took no second invitation to slot it beyond the keeper's reach... It was definitely a sucker punch to the opposition who are playing it hard and tough....

A strategic change for Tianjun to came in to hassle the opponent worked as he ran his socks off covering every blade of grass in front of the defence harassing the play of the opponents.... But opponent werer given a lifeline when their shot was deflected beyond asen's reach when Zhenquan's foot was planted there and it changed the direction of the ball....

The final whistle was indeed music to the ears as the players heaved a sigh of relief that the match has ended.... Tired bodies and fatigue legs but a job well done.....

All the best for the following match at Bedok South tomorrow... Good luck to all!!

Matchday 4 Whining 11 vs Team Poom 2:0

Following the previous week game being called off we have had a healthy squad of 20 raring to go. Asen, Zonghui, Simon, Tianjun and myself were late so we started on the bench, alongside monsters with plenty of bite in the shape of Zhenqing and Nigel. Saran started in goal and in front of him were central pairing of Zhenquan and Jin. Chua started as right back while usual suspect Daniel on the left. Lewis and Jumain were in the centre of the park flanked by Seng and Adrian, who was donning his new jersey but playing in unfamiliar position. Xianxi and Chai started in front.

Game started scrappy and the pitch was narrow and small so lots of play is cramped and there were little space to express. Lots of 50-50 loose balls bobbling around. Defence held up well against attacks while midfield was lacking in creativity, the effort could not be faulted. Midway through the first half the Blues took the lead with Saran's long drop kick travelling metres and the last defender misjudge the flight of the ball to head the ball over his own goalkeeper for our lead. But we were still under a bit of pressure so a trio of subs came on in the shape of Simon, Zonghui and myself. Pretty quiet first half which ended soon.

2nd half started alright but we fail to put our limited chances and lots of misplaced passes. Team Poom defence sat deep to counter Chai and Zonghui who were lacking in support. The final ball was lacking and frustration continues. The balls out of defence were fine but our attack was struggling to work. Off went Rixian and Seng came on and soon the lead was extended. Seng was not interfering with play while Chai capitalise on the defensive switch off to take it past the keeper and slot the ball into the empty net. Zhenqing and Tianjun replaced tired legs of Lewis and hardman Daniel while Nigel came on for Jumain and Adrian moved into the middle. Everyone was playing their part well, Nigel with a couple of well won headers and tackles. Tianjun was alert to the trouble and swept away a number of clearances. The original defence was doing great with Simon, Jin and Zhenquan winning everything on air and ground. We almost added to the lead late on when Jin met Chai's inswinging corner only to head over the ball under pressure. Xianxi came on late for Chai as he took his bow. The man on form with 4 goals in 3 games get his well deserved rest and that was how the game ended. Post match comments by the team all round and job was done. Let's rest well and look forward to next week.

Whining Eleven Status Review

Dear all fellow whining 11 Players,

Thanks to Rixian for constantly Updating the blog and of course much credit goes to Chai for giving the team talk, Strategy updating and team mental building. With the guidance from them and everybody's constant support in the team, our team will flourish and not be a 1 season team meaning to say play one season and fizzle off.

Anyway seeing all play last week is a huge boost to my faith in the team's endless search for improvement as i can really see the heart and soul oozing out from each and every personnel taking on the pitch. Skill wise yes we may not be able to say we are the best but definitely we cannot lose out in terms of the grit and energy.

Currently, In the league Chai is spearheading out attack with the 3 goals to his name and as what rixian says smash and grab bolton style, we are really a team that works very much on our enthusiasm on the pitch and everyone has to admit chai is doing a fantastic job with his high work rate and of course together with the deadly zong hui and skilful Ke jang with 2 goals each is pumping in the goals. Our Midfield dynamo anchored by Adrian has also been a critical centrifugal force that has stabilise the midfield with his combatant style play and the slick footwork of our dazzling pint size midfielder lewis. Jumain hasn't had the opportunity to star in any of the league games but knowing his style of calm and composure play he will always fit into a game where our inexperience is compromise.

Seng has developed into a conventional winger and has ease into the game week in week out and as usual our very penetrative player Rixian Completes our attacking capabilities. Judging on the players we have, we are no meek team but there maybe other variables that hinder our surge to excellence and it takes everybody's own self reflection to determine what is the lacking factor that you want to instill in yourself to uplevel the team.

Nigel ad Zhenqing are two of our utility Workhorses who are known for thei brutality on the pitch but probably may want to skew your attention to fine tune other attributes which can value add on top of your current playing style.

As for the defender wise, the current defence stability is actuallly rested on Daniel's strong command emphasis. That has stabilised the defence and as Zhen Quan, fat, Tian Jun and Jin Strives to improve day by day, sometimes the communication is all that takes to break the good work that we have done defending (ala last week's 1st goal) so that is probably one of the area that we must tighten the screws on.

And of course our Asen, despite his capable ability to come out with match winning reflex saves, there are times that you can drop certain clangers and you may need to work on the goal kicks as you progress.... but things take time and we hope you can work on these critical points.... But we can all see that you are improving so keep it up..... Saran.... we have nothing to say but to just stand in awe on how far you can kick the ball and the possibilities you set up for the team... See you back in the team again....

And of course... our dearest injured taran we wish you all the best in your recovery and hope to see you back in action again..... take care of yourself brother...

Currently our team funds rest at $430 and bulk of the funds will be used for the new jersey... Anyway we can discuss...

This week we will be going to play at Tanglin secondary.... Just Take note.... Take care guys.....

League game 2 : Whining 11 vs Hougang North 5-1

What comes around goes around, gone were the times that Seng and Zhenqing travelled half of Singapore to get to the games we had in the west. Travelling has also turned out better for Jin, at least not so far to get to the games. Most players arrived in time and there were a few like Chai, Kejang, Jin, Zonghui etc doing some warm ups and mini games, while Lewis sported a new hair cut, maybe to send out a message that he's ready to take the rough and tough in the matches. Team photo was taken and special thanks to Zhenqing for doing all of that. Pre match handshakes Champions League style(without theme song) was conducted and soon the 15 man squad was getting ready to start off the match. Zhenqing, Zhenquan, Rixian and Nigel started on the bench. Line up was as usual with Asen in goal, Jin and Fat pairing up in the middle while Simon and Daniel in the full backs position. Kejang and Seng flanked Adrian and Lewis, deadly duo with one goal each started up front, WHO ELSE and CAPTAIN BIBIBABEDOV.

Hougang North kicked off and a long ball was launched from their back and their striker was through on goal, slotting the ball under Asen to put them 1-0 up in at most the first 15 seconds. Whiners were shocked and lost suddenly, as this has not happened before. And it's Simon first game in the league so welcome to the true world! Communication and positioning were bad and lots of blunders here and there as the pace of the game was catching us off guard. But the team showed character and with plenty of encouraging and on field shouts from Daniel and Chai we finally recovered and soon drew level with WHO ELSE. Chai broke free down the right and crossed the ball in the danger zone for Zonghui to score an almost indentical goal the previous week. Both teams kept going at each other throughout and the spirit of the team has to be admired, though sometimes it takes more than that. Fat felt off the pace and asked for a change, Zhenquan coming on. Chai broke the offside trap twice more but failed to hit the target, while Zonghui was caught in an awkward position as he stabbed the ball wide while he reacted to Simon's shot at goal which the keeper spilled. But the Blues were not to be denied as Seng kept up his persistence and in turn won a penalty for our side as the keeper fouled him in the area. Zhenquan stepped up and place the shot beyond the keeper to put as 2-1 up. Rixian went in for Kejang just 10 mins before the end of the first half and the score-line stayed the way it is.

Half time talk was with plenty of fire by Chai and Rixian, who really gave quite a mouthful while also encouraging words from Simon and Daniel. The team came out determined to put things right in the 2nd half and soon enough we extended our lead. Simon launched a cross-field pass to Rixian who was just onside and he in turn headed the ball into Chai's path to slot past the keeper despite pressure from a defender. More chances fell to us several times but we failed to convert them, obvious we have to be more deadly. Chai put as 4-1 up as he followed up Rixian's shot which was going wide but instead hit a defender and the ball spun through for Chai to round the keeper and he wheeled away in celebration, knowing the job is probably done. Zhenqing was bulldozing through everyone and banging everyone off their chases on him. Simon tracked back well to get a crucial touch on the ball when no.18 sped through but he recovered in time in the area. Jin and Zhenquan was solid and make their clearances promptly while Daniel was obviously the man of the match with his exceptional strong display of skill and courage, plus excellent defensive reading. Adrian his usual hardworking self and Kejang too was working harder now to play well. Zonghui came back onto the field and soon provided an assist for Kejang as he made a simple pass into the area for Kejang to roll it into the net. We suffered from some attacks late on as we grew tired and were lucky not to concede any more goals. This is something we have to work on.

End of game and the usual little chats and laughs as this group gets closely-bonded week by week. Please take good care of yourself and those with little knocks here and there, notably Daniel and Seng. I got a head into my cheek so i am still feeling the effects too. Rest well boys, for the top of table clash this weekend. Though it's still early time in the season but it's a short season so we have to scrap for every point and of course try to avoid yellows. Winning all games only brings you 42 points so you can see how fine the line is so it is important we find our feet in the competition but also keep it firmly on the ground.

P.S. Anyway i saw the change in venue, it's not Punggol anymore it's East Spring so please take note. Simon or Chai maybe double check the game venue alright? Thanks.

League game 1 - Whining 11 vs Inter 3-3

Our first league game and first league point. In truth the game should have been won but there were some individual mistakes here and there that cost the win. But we win, lose or draw together as a team and there should be no finger-pointing, just accept it and rectify the errors and we move on from there.

Day started well with our players all on time and mostly early even before the gate was open. Everyone did their warm up and had a team round up by Chai before taking the field. Asen started in goal, with Tien taking up the right back slot and Daniel on the left. Jin and Zhenquan was the spine of the defence and in front of them was Lewis and Adrian, who were flanked by Rixian and Kejang. Up front we had Zonghui and Chai our leading scorers. A healthy bench was available with Nigel, Zhenqing, Fat, Yichun. Game started with opponents trying to dominate possession but the team was backed by the persistent encouraging of Daniel from the bank. We soaked up pressure and play on the counter attack. It may not be pretty but we will get our chances this way. One such break saw Chai free down the right to cross the ball for Zonghui to slot home. That's our first league goal and of course we know it's not over yet. The pitch is hard, sandy and bumpy which made playing difficult but opponents are playing on the same field so definitely there should not be any excuse on our part. Asen pulled off 2 excellent saves and Zhenquan was winning challenges and making crucial clearances. Together with Jin and the rest of the defence holding the team together. The referee was a big problem for us as he keep giving fouls that wasn't and giving cards that was just a simple foul. Inter had much protection from the referee and maybe partially because they are more experienced in getting the decisions their way. But to be frank it's really soft for Chai and Adrian to be conceding yellows. But let's be more tactful next time, ONCE THE WHISTLE IS BLOWN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY OR DO WILL NOT CHANGE THE DECISION, SO LET'S KEEP OUR COOL AND ACCEPT IT, ORGANISE OURSELVES AND KEEP OUR SHAPE AGAIN. Please bear this in mind.

Midway through the first half we conceded and corner, slack marking caused us as a free header was planted into goal and we are back to square 1. It's a bad goal to concede but let's learn from this and move on.

2nd half saw one change from our side, with Yichun and Tien trading places, while Lewis came off for Seng who moved out to the left and Rixian to the centre. And we started stronger this time round. Constant pressure but we failed to turn our domination into goals. Zonghui was tightly marked and devoid of service while Chai was chasing and closing down in typical hardworking fashion, and also making runs and moving into channels to draw out defenders. But we went behind when Asen fumbled a soft shot from outside the area and we went 2-1 down. Zhenqing came on for Rixian and not soon after Fat came on for Jin. Zhenquan was obviously tired too as mistakes started to crept into his game. The team kept the pressure on and won a corner on the left, with Kejang swinging it low and Chai making the crucial connection by sweeping the ball first time into the net. That instilled belief in the team and the message was that there we 5 minutes to go when Whining 11 won another corner, this time on the right. Zhenqing put the ball in and as it was slightly behind Kejang he had to shaped him to do a scissors kick. Made strong connection and the ball was deflected into the net in what was the winner... or we thought it is. Late on we conceded a late penalty when Fat brought down one of the Inter indian. The challenge seem 50-50 but he was getting nowhere and Fat did acknowledge his error of judgement. The penalty was put in to Asen's right as the game ended 3-3. It was a game of highs and lows when we thought we did a smash and grab but were brought down to earth again. It may be slightly disappointing but let's draw the positives out and look forward to the next game, where we most probably will have Jumain and Simon back to add more solidity into the side.

P.S. If you think you played well then ask more of yourself to play better. If you think you could have done more and it was a performance you were not satisfy with, push yourself harder. Fat and Asen don't look too much into it. Move on and come back stronger! Take care team!
